- Established in 1948, Fujitec globally employs over 11,000 employees, active in over 45 countries with 38 group companies.
- We have 8 factories globally, including three R&D centers – our primary factory is “Big Wing” located in Japan.
1948 - 1988
1948 - February
Fujitec Co., Ltd is founded by late Honorary Chairman, Mr. Shotaro Uchiyama for the purpose of research and development, manufacturing, sales, installation and maintenance of elevators.
1964 - August
Fujitec (HK) Co., Ltd. is established.
1972 - August
Fujitec Singapore Corpn. Ltd., is established.
1974 - February
The company is listed on the first Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange.
1975 - September
A 150-meter tall elevator research tower (at the time the world’s tallest and largest of its kind) is completed in Ibaraki,Osaka.
1976 - July
A super high-speed DC gearless elevator with a speed of 600mpm (at the time the world´s fastest) is developed.
1977 - July
Fujitec America Inc. is established.
1982
- January
A 150-meter tall elevator research tower (at the time the world’s tallest and largest of its kind) is completed in Ibaraki,Osaka.

Fujitec UK Ltd. is established.
1988 - November
Amalgamated Lifts Limited is founded in Crayford, Kent, providing lift sales, installation and maintenance. jpx
1993 - March
Fujitec Co., Ltd. becomes the first in the Japanese elevator industry to obtain ISO9001, an international quality assurance standard.
1997
- July
The world's largest elevator production plant is built in Lebanon, Ohio, USA.
- July
V SERIES a new type of global standard escalator, is developed.
- December
Fujitec UK Ltd. obtains ISO 9001 certification.
2004 - May
Fujitec India Private Ltd. is established.
2006 - April
The Group moves its headquarters to Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, to the facility known as “Big Wing”
2018 - February
Fujitec celebrates the 70th anniversary of its founding.
2020 - February
Fujitec UK acquires Amalgamated Lifts, bringing its high-quality expertise and strong UK customer base into the Fujitec family to support continued growth in the UK lift market.
2025 - A new chapter for the Group
Global investment organisation EQT announces its offer to take Fujitec private, with the founding family retaining a 15% stake. The partnership focuses on strengthening operations, accelerating digitalisation and expanding in key markets.
2026 - June: By Royal Warrant
Amalgamated Lifts is granted a Royal Warrant by His Majesty King Charles III, recognising eight years of lift modernisation, maintenance and management at historic sites including Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and Windsor Castle.
